Reading based Funk band “The Funk Soul Rebels” have been gracing bustling music venues for over 4 years entertaining Funk/Soul lovers from the home counties and further afar. Their prominent groove-based music takes the listener on a dynamic musical journey where memories are conjured up of a bygone era and it is inevitable that feet tap away uncontrollably to an energy that devours your heart and heightens your senses.
The syncopated bass and percussion lines accented by horns, guitar and vocals lead to a gritty showcase of pure rhythmical beauty that leaves its’ audiences coming back to their shows time after time. The talented and highly experienced band members resurrect classic artists such as Bill Withers, Commodores, Gil Scott-Heron, Lonnie Liston-Smith, Stevie Wonder and up to date artists such as Aloe Blacc and Daft Punk.
“The whole thing started as an idea where we wanted to play music that was close to our hearts but were never able to do as a consequence of other musical commitments elsewhere. When those commitments fizzled out, we jumped at the chance of doing this for fun. We’ve never looked back” says Keith Muir, TFSR’s highly energetic bass engine.
We hope you enjoy the show as much as we will enjoy playing it……
